Where: Vantage is located off Spinnaker Way, Corlette on the southern shore of Port Stephens, adjacent to Bagnalls Beach Reserve. The site is a 50-minute drive north of Newcastle
Council: Port Stephens
Area: Approximately 46 hectares
What’s proposed: The development that offers coastal lifestyle in the popular Port Stephens location. The development is close to the CBD of Nelson Bay, the facilities of Salamander Bay and Corlette and the waterways of Port Stephens.
Our role: UrbanGrowth NSW has managed the development under the Crown Lands Homesites Programme since 1992. This has included all processes from acquisition, through ecological and archaeological assessment, master planning, engineering design, Council approval, civil works construction, marketing and sales. The master plan has responded to UrbanGrowth NSW’s urban design philosophy and is designed to deliver sustainable development outcomes.
Where it’s up to: Delivery phase. To date, six stages have been completed providing 234 lots, along with public art, walking and cycling paths and nature reserves. Construction of the last three stages has commenced and will be completed by early 2015 delivering a further 84 lots.
Features: The lots at Vantage were re-masterplanned in 2004 to achieve updated urban outcomes and integrate bushfire hazard reduction measures. These outcomes include; perimeter roads, legible street layout, water sensitive urban design principles, maximisation of views and public spaces which provide good linkages.
- The new master plan creates an updated urban form with an interconnected grid layout, a mix of lot sizes and integrated open space areas that complement the adjoining bushland.
- The perimeter roads provide integrated Asset Protection Zones to reduce bushfire risk.
- Built form design guidelines apply to all lots to achieve building sympathetic to the site and encourage a coastal character throughout the development.
- Vantage will deliver a coastal bushland setting with a high level of finish featuring integrated public art.
